How QR boarding and live trip links work
TravellBuddy guides · 2026-10-26
Two features make every TravellBuddy trip easier to trust: the boarding pass, which confirms the right passenger is in the right car, and the live trip link, which lets family follow along.
The boarding pass
When the driver confirms your booking, you get a boarding pass in the app. It has a QR code and a 4-digit code.
- At pickup, the driver scans your QR code, or you tell them the 4-digit code if scanning isn't convenient.
- Once it's checked, the trip shows you as on board.
- A wrong code is rejected, so nobody can board in your place.
Following the trip
- Before pickup, you see when the driver is on the way and when they've arrived.
- During the trip, you can see the driver's live position on the map.
- When you're dropped off, the trip shows it, and you can rate the driver.
The live trip link
- From your booking, tap “Share trip live” and send the link by WhatsApp, SMS or email.
- The person you send it to opens it in any browser. They don't need the app or an account.
- They see the trip status and the route, and the driver's position during the trip.
- You choose how your name appears on the link.
- You can turn sharing off at any time, and the link ends when you're dropped off.
Who can see your location
During a trip, the driver's location is shared with that ride's passengers and with anyone a passenger sends a live trip link to. Location is used while the app is open on the trip; TravellBuddy doesn't track you in the background. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
