Outstation carpool checklist: before you leave the city
TravellBuddy guides · 2026-10-26
Intercity and outstation trips are where carpooling helps most: long drives, high fuel and toll costs, and plenty of cars making the same journey. Use this checklist before you set off.
When booking
- Search with your real start and destination; TravellBuddy also shows rides that pass near you, not just those starting at the same place.
- Check the departure time and leave yourself a margin to reach the pickup point.
- Look at the vehicle and seats left if you're travelling with luggage.
- Write a note to the driver: luggage, a landmark at the pickup point, or a stop you'd like.
The day before
- Make sure your booking is confirmed by the driver.
- Keep your boarding pass handy; it works with the QR code or the 4-digit code.
- Add or check your emergency contacts in the Safety Center.
Packing
- Pack light, or tell the driver about large bags in advance.
- Carry water, a phone charger or power bank, and your ID.
- Have your share ready to pay directly to the driver.
On the road
- Share your live trip link with family before you leave; it ends automatically when you're dropped off.
- Agree on tea or meal stops early on long trips.
- Follow the trip in the app: you'll see when you're on board and when you've been dropped off.
After you arrive
- Rate your driver. Your review helps the next passenger choose.
