Offering your first carpool ride: a driver's checklist
TravellBuddy guides · 2026-10-26
If you're driving somewhere anyway, the empty seats in your car can share the cost of the trip. Here's everything to do before, during and after your first ride on TravellBuddy.
1. Set up your profile and vehicle
- Add a clear profile photo and your name as you'd like passengers to see it.
- Add your vehicle: car (hatchback, sedan, SUV or premium) or bike, with its registration number, and set your default vehicle.
- Set your ride preferences on music, smoking, pets and conversation, so passengers know what to expect.
- Submit your driving licence, ID and vehicle registration for the “Verified driver” label. Passengers can filter for verified drivers.
2. Post the trip
- Enter your start, destination, date, time and the number of seats you'll offer.
- Use the suggested price per seat, which TravellBuddy works out for your route and vehicle, or set your own.
- You can edit the time, seats, price and preferences until someone requests a seat.
3. Choose your passengers
- Each request shows the passenger's profile, rating, the seats they want, their pickup and drop-off and any note.
- Accept the requests that fit your route and timing. You decide who joins.
4. On the day
- The app guides you stop by stop: who to pick up, where, and who to drop off next.
- At each pickup, scan the passenger's QR code or enter their 4-digit code.
- Passengers pay you directly, the way you agreed. TravellBuddy takes no payment in the app and nothing from the fare.
5. After the trip
- Rate your passengers, and they'll rate you. Good reviews make your next rides easier to fill.
